Beat the seasons with this massage therapy! Lymphatic drainage therapy is non invasive and effective in treating a full spectrum of physical and emotional conditions.
What is the lymphatic drainage?
Lymphatic massage, also called lymphatic drainage or manual lymph drainage, is a technique developed in Germany for treatment of lymphedema, an accumulation of fluid that can occur after lymph nodes are removed during surgery, most often a mastectomy for breast cancer.
What is MLD massage?
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a specialized, gentle type of skin massage and an important part of lymphoedema treatment. The aim is to encourage the extra lymph fluid to move away from the swollen area so it can drain normally.
How does the lymphatic system work together?
Lymph is formed when high arterial pressure forces fluid out of the capillaries and into the tissue spaces. From there it is taken up into the lymphatic vessels. The lymph carries harmful substances from the tissues to the lymph nodes, for removal, before the lymph is returned to the blood at the veins in the neck. How does the lymph move through the body?
However, unlike the circulatory system, that has the heart to pump blood through the system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump. The lymph is moved through the lymphatic vessels by contractions of the lymphatic vessels and the surrounding skeletal muscles.
What parts of the body make up the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system primarily consists of lymphatic vessels, which are similar to the circulatory system’s veins and capillaries. The vessels are connected to lymphnodes, where the lymph is filtered. The tonsils, adenoids, spleen and thymus are all part of the lymphatic system.

How does lymph nodes help fight disease?
Lymph nodes and what they do. Lymph vessels route lymph fluid through nodes throughout the body. Lymph nodes are small structures that work as filters for harmful substances. They contain immune cells that can help fight infection by attacking and destroying germs that are carried in through the lymph fluid.
